CoverageClusterControl statement
18 clauses marked outside scope, and why
CitationClause and reason
Attached table 3, control 8.1.1.6.PB (translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition) The provider's asset inventory identifies customer data and derived data (basic statement requirement)

the assets this control asks the inventory to single out are the customer's data and the data the service derives from it; the inventory this cluster keeps holds the images that ran and what they are made of, which is the software rather than what it processed, and answering a data-identification control from a software inventory would be the over-claim this package exists to refuse

Attached table 3, control 8.1.2 (translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition) Assets in the inventory are owned (basic statement requirement)

ownership is a named person or team made answerable for an asset, recorded in the provider's own asset register; a cluster records which images ran and what is inside them, and nothing in those records says who is accountable for one

Attached table 3, control 9.1.1 (translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition) An access control policy is established, documented and reviewed (basic statement requirement)

the policy this control asks for governs who may reach the provider's information and information processing facilities, and it is written and reviewed in the provider's own governance; the policy this cluster enforces decides which images may run, which is a different subject under the same word

Attached table 3, control 12.1.2.11.PB Customers are told about changes that could harm their security (basic statement requirement)

this control is a communication the provider makes to its own customers about its own service; a cluster records the changes it admitted and under which policy, and nothing in those records says whether anybody was told

Attached table 3, control 12.4.1.15.PB (translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition) A logging function is provided to cloud service customers (basic statement requirement)

this control asks the provider to give its own customers a way to obtain logs of their use of the service; the log this control keeps is of the provider's cluster and is read by the provider, which is the opposite direction to the one the control points in

Attached table 3, control 12.6.1.3 Roles and responsibilities for technical vulnerability management

who is answerable for monitoring, assessing and remediating a vulnerability is an assignment the provider makes and records in its own governance; a cluster shows the work being done and never who was supposed to do it

Attached table 3, control 14.2.1 (translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition) Secure development rules are established and applied (basic statement requirement)

these rules are established inside the development organisation and applied while software is being written; this cluster meets the result as a built image and can say what is inside it and who signed it, not what rule the people who made it were working to

Attached table 3, control 14.2.1.13.PB (translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition) Information about secure development practices is provided (basic statement requirement)

what the provider publishes about how it develops software, and what its disclosure policy holds back, are decisions taken outside this cluster and recorded nowhere in it

Attached table 3, control 14.2.2 (translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition) Changes within the development lifecycle use formal change control (basic statement requirement)

the changes this control governs are made inside the development lifecycle, before anything is built; the change record this cluster keeps is of images arriving at a running system and is reported under 12.1.2, where these criteria ask for it

Attached table 3, control 14.2.8 (translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition) Security functionality is tested during development (basic statement requirement)

this control tests the security functionality a system is being built with, while it is being built; scanning a finished image measures which known vulnerabilities its components carry, which is a different measurement of a different thing and not a substitute for it

Attached table 3, control 15.1.1 (translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition) Security requirements for supplier access are agreed and documented (basic statement requirement)

this control is an agreement reached with a supplier and written down; a cluster sees the software a supplier shipped, not the terms on which it was shipped

Attached table 3, control 15.1.1.16.B Foreign law risk assessed, and jurisdiction specified in the contract (basic statement requirement)

this control is about which law could reach the customer's data and which contract says so; it is answered by the provider's legal assessment of its contractors and its contracts, and an admission decision observes neither

Attached table 3, control 18.2.1 (translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition) The approach to managing information security is independently reviewed (basic statement requirement)

this document is evidence such a review reads, not the review itself; the independence the control asks for is a property of who performs it, and a control cannot review itself. Under ISMAP the review is performed by an assessor from the registered assessor list, over the assessment period the provider states

Attached table 1, governance criteria (Chapter 3.1.1) Governance criteria — the governing body's own processes

the whole of Attached table 1 is what a governing body does: evaluating whether security objectives are aligned to the business, directing managers, monitoring what they report back, communicating with stakeholders and commissioning assurance. None of it is a property of a cluster, and a provider states it from its own board records

Attached table 2, management criteria (Chapter 4.1) Management criteria — the information security management system itself

Attached table 2 is the management system — scope, policy, risk assessment and treatment, competence, documented information, internal assessment, management review, corrective action, and the risk communication with cloud service customers that Chapter 4.9 adds. It is assessed against the provider's own records of running it, and a cluster is one of the things it directs rather than any part of it

Attached table 3, controls 7.1 to 7.3 (human resource security); the text quoted is control 7.1.1, translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition Human resource security (basic statement requirement)

screening before employment, the terms in a contract, awareness training, the disciplinary process and the responsibilities that survive a departure are all statements about people; an admission decision taken on an image observes none of them

Attached table 3, controls 11.1 and 11.2 (physical and environmental security); the text quoted is control 11.1.1, translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition Physical and environmental security (basic statement requirement)

perimeters, entry controls, cabling, equipment siting and secure disposal are properties of the data centres the provider runs or buys; a webhook inside a cluster sees none of the building it is running in

Attached table 3, controls 13.1.1 to 13.1.4.P (network security management); the text quoted is control 13.1.1, translated from the Japanese text of the 2024-08-01 edition Network security management (basic statement requirement)

network segregation, network service agreements and the consistency between a virtual network and the physical one beneath it are configured in the network and in the platform under the nodes; this control decides which images may run and never sees a packet

What Attestkeep produces

Evidence from records the cluster already keeps.

Nothing is filled in by hand. Each clause's answer carries a status (met, partial, gap or outside scope), a note with the period's own numbers, and the report sections those numbers come from.

Statements the mapping draws on

Each assessed clause is answered by one or more of these statements about the period's records. The same statement answers the same question under every framework, so two reports for one period cannot disagree.

  • Every decision and administrative action is recorded9 clauses
  • Every image in the inventory carries a scan record9 clauses
  • Admission refuses non-compliant workloads8 clauses
  • Only images of established provenance may run5 clauses
  • A bill of materials is held for the images in service4 clauses
  • Every image change is recorded against the policy that governed it3 clauses
  • Workloads name images by digest, not by a movable tag3 clauses
  • Findings are matched against a national catalogue of exploited vulnerabilities3 clauses
  • Images may enter only from named registries3 clauses
  • Images carrying severe findings are refused3 clauses
  • Workload privilege is constrained at admission3 clauses
  • Remediation windows are declared for each severity2 clauses
  • Administrative access is federated to a directory1 clause
  • Accepted risks are named, justified and expire1 clause
  • A refusal or a critical finding reaches a person1 clause
  • A trusted producer's own statement about their product is read and acted on1 clause

Scope

The scope paragraph, as the report states it.

This document reports what one Kubernetes cluster's admission control and image scanning recorded during the period, mapped onto the Control Criteria of ISMAP — the criteria a cloud service is registered against for the Japanese government's Information system Security Management and Assessment Program. The criteria are addressed to a cloud service provider and cover its whole undertaking, and an ISMAP assessment reads the provider's own statement of which controls it implements over an assessment period of at most one year. Nothing here is that statement, nothing here is an assessment of one, and nothing here registers anything: this cluster is one control inside the provider's estate, and this document is evidence such a statement could cite. What the period's records support is a part of the controls criteria of Attached table 3, and only for the software inside container images: the asset inventory of 8.1, the change management of 12.1.2, the event and administrator logs of 12.4, the control of software installed on operational systems in 12.5.1 and 12.6.2, the technical vulnerability management of 12.6.1 and its cloud detailed control, the acceptance criteria of 14.2.9, the secure engineering principles of 14.2.5, the ICT supply chain requirements of 15.1.3, and the technical compliance review of 18.2.3. The governance criteria of Attached table 1 and the management criteria of Attached table 2 are outside it entirely, as are human resource security, physical and environmental security, network security management and the access control criteria — except for the privileged access this control's own console governs, which answers part of 9.2.3. Controls whose number ends in B or PB are implemented in principle rather than selected, and every clause below says whether the control it maps is one of those. Obligations quoted from a control whose English entry only points at ISO/IEC 27002:2013 are translated from the in-force Japanese edition of 1 August 2024, and their citations say so.

Questions

About ISMAP and Attestkeep

Is this a ISMAP certification?

No. The package is evidence produced from your cluster's own records. It is not a certification, and no auditor is obliged to accept it. The scope paragraph on this page is the one the report itself carries.

Why are 18 of the clauses outside scope?

They ask about things one cluster's admission and scanning records cannot show. They are listed with the reason rather than left out, so whoever reads the report can see the gap is deliberate.

Which plan includes ISMAP?

Every plan can report against it. Community and Team include one framework of your choice, Business three, Enterprise every one. Prices are on the pricing page.

How does an auditor check the package?

In a browser at attestkeep.com/verify.html, where nothing is uploaded, or with the short script on the documentation site. Neither needs us. For auditors has the details.
